Tallahassee Lawyer Sues Poker Pro Maurice Hawkins Over A Staking Deal, Seeking $23,000

Tallahassee lawyer, Attorney Hal Lewis is suing poker pro Maurice Hawkins over a discontinued staking deal. Lewis is reportedly seeking nearly $23,000 from Hawkins, from their last year’s deal. Both men happen to know each other since early 2016.

According to Lewis, he tried to resolve the matter first before bringing it to the public. Hawkins reportedly repaid $10,000 of the total and used the rest for buy-ins, as per the terms of the deal to which Lewis disagrees and wants the full money back.

Hawkins further reported the backing deal resulted in Lewis a win of more than $120,000.

Hawkins has a combined tournament earnings of $2.8 million. Hawkins had the best year in games in 2016, but with more than 20 cashes in 2017, with a combined payout of $514,000, he’s most likely to pass that in 2017.

Hawkins is one of the most hard working poker players, and according to him, the game is all about money and many people working at Burger King have made more money this year than a lot of poker players.
