According to a report from PI Datametrics, online searches for online poker have increased by 3,000% year-on-year in 2020.

The report saw growth in searches for ‘play poker online with friends’, an opportunity that was picked up by online poker operators. Searches for ‘virtual grand national’ and ‘online slot games’ also significantly grew in 2020 according to PI Datametrics.

During the early stages of the pandemic with all sports being cancelled and traditional sportsbetting halted, an increased traffic from Sportsbook to alternative verticals such as Poker and Casino took place. Topped off with potential customers, both new customers and dormant customer locked at home with access to the internet, it is no surprise that online operators were eager to capitalize on these beneficial conditions and found the odds turning in their favor soon after.

While nobody should be particularly pleased with the advantages they gain from a deadly pandemic. However, online poker rooms can’t help but notice their increased traffic and revenue that bumped from the second quarter of 2020.
