According to the numbers revealed by the gambling regulator Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ) in Spain, the online gambling market has continued to grow over the years.
The operators in Spain have in total generated total gross gaming revenue of €121.3 million in Q2 up to June 30, 2017, which was up by 22.6% year-on-year. Spain also happens to be one of the active participants in the shared online poker liquidity project.
The gross revenue generated from online poker was €14.4 million in the second quarter as compared to the same period the previous year, up by 4.9%. The total Poker Volume came out to €383.2 million, up 1.8% year-on-year. However; the cash games and tournament when considered separately paint a disappointing picture.
The revenues from the tournaments gave out good numbers in the second quarter while cash game poker hit the downwards road. While tournaments had revenue of €8.8 million, up 21.1% year-on-year, the cash games generated revenue of €5.6 million down 13.3% from a year earlier in the same quarter period.
