It has been a rough year for many Asiatic casinos this year, struggling with attracting clients and thus come out with big losses on the bottomline. Now the management of the Queenco Casino and Hotel in Cambodia decided that they want to take a different approach and focus more on poker in their casino, to try and attract new customers and revenue.
Just last week the casino hosted their first ever international poker tournament, the Asia Poker Tour (APT). With a decently sized field of poker players, they noticed that tournaments like these attracts more than a 100 players and also friends of the players, increasing revenues significantly while the tournament is being played.
The COO of Queenco said to the Phnom Penh Post: “We agreed with the APT officials that Queenco would host at least two more tour events in 2015 alone, and then each year after. The decision to host the APT event was firstly to promote Sihanoukville as a future gaming destination,”
With the expansion of poker tournaments to the casino, they have ensured that they will get a revenue boost every year, which will hopefully help turn around the negative income that the casino has encountered since its launch.
