The world’s biggest and most popular online poker room, PokerStars, has won an award as 2014’s Online Poker Operator of the Year. This is the second and consecutive year that the company has won the same award. The award is given out by the International Gaming Awards which are held in London along the London Affiliate Conference.
PokerStars won the award based on it’s ever growing list of accomplishments in 2013. Amongst these, PokerStars celebrated its 100th billionth hand and hosted the two biggest online poker festivals with over $137 million in prizes. It also received the Guiness World Record for having hosted the largest ever online poker tournament in which over 250,000 players took part.
PokerStars was also in the media when it signed both Ronaldo (football super star) and Nadal (his equivalent in the tennis world) as brand ambassadors. According to Eric Hollreiser, the head of Corporate Communications at the company, “We’re proud to take down this award for the second straight time. And we’ll be doing everything we can in the next 12 months to make a strong run at a three-peat”.
