Pokerstars Looking for Poker Protégés During WCOOP Series

The world’s biggest poker site, Pokerstars, announced a new competition today, which will be taking place during the 2014 World Championship of Online Poker also known as WCOOP. The competition itself is pretty simple as Pokerstars are looking for four players to become protégés of Team Pokerstars Pro players.

The four winners of the protégé competition will receive training from four of the world’s best poker players. Andre Akkari, Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier, Eugene Katchalov and Vanessa Selbst will all coach the winners and with four World Championship of Online Poker titles between them there is no doubt that they can teach everyone a thing or two.

The four lucky winners will furthermore receive a free entry to the $5,200 WCOOP main event tournament as well as have the chance to win the Grand Prize of a 2015 Pokerstars Caribbean Adventure package.

This is going to be a fun and incredible experience for four players. They’ll get some great training with in-depth strategy discussion from four Team PokerStars Pros that should really help their games going into the World Championship events.”  Team Pokerstars Pro, Vanessa Selbst said.

To win the protégé competition, players will have to play special daily protégé tournaments, which runs from July 20th to August 3rd and have a $5,50 buy-in. The players finishing in the top two in the tournaments will then win the prize pool and be invited to make a one-minute video for the Team Pokerstars Pro mentor, telling them why they should have the chance to become a protégé.

Each Team Pokerstars Pro will then figure out who is their two favourites and the eight video’s selected in total will be uploaded to Facebook and YouTube for the final four to be decided by a public vote. Pokerstars will then track the progress of the protégés throughout the 2014 WCOOP.

The qualifying tournament schedule for this event is:

  • 13.00 ET – Eugene Protégé Qualifier
  • 14.00 ET – ElkY Protégé Qualifier
  • 17.00 ET – Vanessa Protégé Qualifier
  • 18.00 ET – Andre Protégé Qualifier

The tournament runs daily from July 20th to August 3rd and the protégé who wins the biggest amount of money in the three events they are bought into, will win the grand prize of a 2015 PCA package.
