Pokerstars Caribbean Adventure Festival Starts Today

By Daniel Allermand

It’s time for one of the most anticipated live poker events in the world, as the Pokerstars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) is starting today. This year’s poker festival will feature a massive 35 events which will be running from January 6th until the 14th.

The schedule is better than ever and includes a $10,000 Main Event, $25,000 High Roller, $3,000 LAPT Bahamas Main Event, $1,000 Ladies Event and even Americas Cup. New concepts like Double Bubble are also being introduced, which is basically a double-or-nothing where 50% gets paid and 50% doesn’t. There will also be nightly tournaments, sit n go’s as well as cash games running around the clock.

“PCA 2015 introduces the novelty of the Double Bubble format in some side events, as well as the joint effort of LAPT season 8 with PCA, and the shooting of Shark Cage season 2. All this together provides for an exciting kick-off of the 2015 poker season and another opportunity to celebrate poker at its highest standards in a dream location. I can’t believe it is going to be the 12th edition of the PCA; all of us are looking forward to it!” said David Carrion, PCA Director.

The interest for PCA Main Event is always quite high and this year more than 330 players have already qualified online for just a few dollars. Several celebrities will also be attending, including golfer Sergio Garcia, UFC legend Tito Ortiz, Jason Alexander from Seinfeld and Brazilian football legend Ronaldo.

Last year’s Main Event attracted 1,031 players who paid the $10,000 buy-in, creating a first prize of $1,423,096. Mike McDonald and Dominik Panka battled it out for the title and eventually Panka was crowned the winner in the beautiful Caribbeans.

Also the PCA Super High Roller tournament with a $100,000 buy-in is popular this year, as Daniel Negreanu, Vanessa Selbst, Jason Mercier, Ike Haxton, Dan Shak, Bill Perkins and Paul Newey will all participate and try to boost their roll with the expected big first prize.

For those not looking to spend a lifetime of money playing big tournaments, there’s also other things to do at the PCA. You can compete in the “HU4ROLLZ” contest against Team Online players, playing heads-up matches against them.  Shark Cage will also be shooting from Bahamas, shooting three heats in total where the players compete to go to the winner-takes-all $1 million tournament final in Monaco.
