“Pokerl)eviL” gets a second chance, “Berkyy” double taps it, “Runninggreat” breaks through in the Million

Share

Welcome back to your Poker Sunday Funday Report here on iGaming.org.  This week shows us a WSOP bracelet winner cashing in for Sunday’s biggest MTT prize, a WCOOP Main Event final tabelist still running good and one virtual grinder going back for seconds at final tables while so many others go hungry.  Here’s the break down of results from the biggest to the smallest.

Sunday Million ($1,000,000 GTD) – PokerStars
Buy in:  $200+15     Entrants:  6,834  Prize Pool: $1,366,800

Back on the schedule for the first time in a month and showing no signs of slowing (blowing up its guarantee by over 36%) the Sunday Million saw a five way chop mark the finish of its final table.  In the end, Canadian WSOP winner from 2007 Robert Cheung took home the title, but third place finisher “yurasov1990” left with the most cash, thanks to the magic of an ICM based chop.  Only one more “known face” made a deep run in the biggest money tournament on Sunday and that was João “joaobarb” Barbosa (33rd – $2,856.)

Sunday Warm-Up ($500,000 GTD) – PokerStars
Buy in:  $200+15  Entrants: 3,227  Prize Pool:  $645,500

“Berky” scored a final table in the second biggest tournament of the week, but it would not be his biggest win on this fine Sunday.  (The suspense is killing you, I know.)  Meanwhile, he was edged out by Russell “rcrane082985” Crane and 4 others before MORTIIIiii… (oh you get the point) and “daveydenko123” chopped heads up.  Going deep but sheared with the sheep were Aditya “intervntion” Agarwal (16th – $1,936), Martin “phasE89“ Balaz (25th – $1,645 you’ll see him again) and Larry “BBOY3119” Sharpe (27th – $1,645.)

Sunday 500 ($300,000 GTD) – PokerStars
Buy in: $500+30  Entrants:  720  Prize Pool: $360,000

This was the deep run Aleks Brkovic was waiting for as the second final table of the day netted a heads up deal that gave “Berkyy” the title and the biggest prize in the big buy in Sunday event on Stars.  The grammatically confused or ursine-with-psoriasis inspired “Iwantbearitch” took home just a hair more than $4,100 less, so I’m sure that will sooth what ails him or put him on the path to wealth.  The pair have a lot to be proud of as they fended off online MTT heavyweights Marty Mathis, James Carroll and Johan “busto_soon” Van Til.   Sharks also in the hunt included Connor “blanconegro” Drinan (10th – $3,888), Steve “Illini213” Barshak (15th – $3,168), Kyle “KJulius” Julius (16th – $2,448) and Jason “jakoon1985” Koon (21st – $1,728.)

$250,000 Guarantee – FullTilt Poker
Buy in: $200+15  Entrants: $1,345  Prize Pool:  $269,000

The biggest win on the resurgent FullTilt Poker was scored by “marinko17” who took home $53,800 in a straight out win. He bested a solid final table that saw Ondrej Vinklarek take 4th and Steve Leonard take 9th. The big guarantee on FTP also saw Connor “negroblanco” Drinnan (15th – $2,044) and Jason “NovaSky” Koon (24th – $1,156) rack up deep MMT major finishes in consecutive weeks and join “Berkyy” double tapping deep runs this Funday but sadly, repeating the miss on final tables.

Sunday Supersonic ($125,000 GTD)

Buy in: $210.80+4.20  (I see what you did there) Entrants: 1270 Prize Pool: $267,716

Fast and furious as always, the Funday ending Hyper-Turbo yielded its top prize of $45,054 to Dowgh-Santos when he made a heads up deal with jbrown8777.  The two “alias only” players outlasted known online MTT wiz kids Kevin ‘iacog04” Iacofano (5th) and Martin “phasE89” Balaz (8th I guess he should have run on something other than Ethanol) at this “last shot” final table.

$109 Sunday Rebuy ($225,000 GTD) – PokerStars
Buy in: $100+9 (RB)  Entries:  882  Prize Pool:  $263,600

Rebuys build prize pools and the biggest one of the week on Stars did just that, taking a $109 buy in event above the biggest prize pool on PartyPoker and all but one on FullTilt .  The beneficiary of those that could not quit at just one entry was MarcoMorais who took home $49,425 in a straight out win.  Squeeking into the final table was Brian Elgaard who edged out notables Michael “moneyinbag” Aron (12th – $2,899), Jordan “Jymaster11” Young (14th – $2,372), Steven “Zugwat” Silverman (15th – $2,372) and Pierre “Zoutechamp” Neuville (17th – $1,845) who all made commendable runs but could not make last nine.

Sunday 2nd Chance – Poker Stars
Buy in:  $200+15  Entrants: 1,223  Prize Pool:  $244,600

Dylan Hortin might have been hoping for a second chance after his 7th place finish in the WCOOP Main Event last week, but he’ll have to settle for taking down the PokerStars Sunday Second Chance instead.  The win (in a three way deal) netted “Pokerl)eviL” a devilish $35,134 in cash.  A great score in a tough tournament but only about 1/6 of what his WCOOP ME final table finish netted him.  Meanwhile, Johan Van Til was netting his second deep run of the day with a 5th place finish that just edged out Aditya Agarwal in 6th.   Also tuning a multiple deep finish day in the majors was James “croll103” Carrol who bubbled the final table in 11th ($2,323.)  Hunter “HEMIpowerSWT” Frey grabbed 17th for $1,345.

$200,000 GTD Sunday – PartyPoker
Buy in: $200+15  Entries:  1,127  Prize Pool:  $225,400

PartyPoker’s big Sunday tournament edged out the same guarantee on FullTilt by a mere $2,400 thanks to a dozen more runners logging on to get lucky.  In the end MattSplatt avoided the flyswatter and took home the lion’s share of a four way deal that made sure the final four all took home at least 100 times their buy in.

Sunday Brawl ($200,000 GTD) – FullTilt Poker
Buy in:  $240+15  Entries:  1,115  Prize Pool:  $223,000

FTP’s Sunday dust-up saw Brandon “norjean” Meyers best Ben “SPRAGGS” Spraggons to walk away with all of the $44,600 first prize.  Possibly just as impressive was YouGOOOGIRL’s third – marking back to back $21k+ scores in the Brawl for this scrappy grinder.  Jude Ainsworth clocked in at 5th making the final table while notables Spencer “UH Big Tex” Hudson (13th – $1,694) and David “Gunslinger3” Bach (18th – $1,293) ran deep but fell short.
