Poker Industry In Puerto Rico Affected Due To Hurricane Maria

It’s a pokerless atmosphere in Puerto Rico since it was hit by Hurricane Maria due to which 20 casinos on the island territory remain closed. These casinos were bread and butter to nearly 3.5 million US citizens. The storm was a horrific site with winds exceeding 150mph blowing out windows, peeling off roofs and ripping away trees from the ground. There were major water and electricity crisis until Monday.

According to the authorities, all the services will take weeks to months to resume since the island is already in debt crisis of $73 billion. The state power company was among several broken agencies within the government, and the residents got resistant to frequent blackouts.

Good news is that few hotels and casino resorts tried to resume their services with backup generators which were such a relief for the guests who were trapped and unable to go home. Also, the planes started flying on Sunday, although the airport operations have dropped down focusing more on handling emergency needs

Some serious damaged was witnessed in Condado which is a tourist district in the capital city of San Juan. The city is home to several casinos and poker rooms. There were online booking denials of several famous resorts like Embassy Suites and Plaza Hilton
