Players at Global Poker scheduled this Sunday, September 17 can show their support to the victims of the Hurricane Harvey and Irma through their participation in a charity tournament.

The idea of the event came after the suggestions came from a regular forum contributor ‘splayaa’ and Global Poker immediately responded to the notion. The event comes at a buy-in of SC$5+SC$. All the proceeds from the event will go to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.

To further the funds Global Poker announced that they would donate $25 for every player registering for the tournament, bringing each player’s contribution up to five times. The devastation caused by the two storms moved Global Poker Founder and CEO Laurence Escalante, who has now taken up the task to see how the poker community can give back.

Escalante expressed his sadness saying that the two Hurricanes, Harvey and Irma “wreaked havoc” to significant parts of America, esp. in Florida and Texas. He further added that the damage estimates to be as high as $200 billion and that Global Poker is “proud to work” with the players to help in contributing towards the relief.
