Poker Central to Partner with NBC Sports

Poker Central was set up in 2015 as an exclusive poker television channel. The person behind the initiative was Cary Katz, a famous poker pro with a background of over $9.4 million in career prize money.

Owing to financial difficulties, Poker Central almost closed down at the end of 2016. Luckily, a recent partnership with NBC Sports Network, which entails broadcasting Poker Central’s programing via its television and online platforms, is probably going to save the channel.

One of the landmark events that will be aired through the media is the Poker Central Super High Roller Bowl. It features a buy-in of $300,000 and a guaranteed prize pool of over $16 million.

After its launch, Poker Central faced criticism for broadcasting old content and being difficult to access. The channel took the feedback constructively but since it lacked the finance to orientate towards developing unique shows of its own, it turned to partnering with television networks.

According to the agreement with NBC, Poker Central will utilize the media’s digital platform to stream online poker programing. It has also been reported that Poker Central is involved in negotiations with other companies for similar media rights agreements.
