Poker Central, a 24/7 poker channel which went on air at the end of 2015, will be shut down at the end of 2016.
The channel that was funded by the business man and poker enthusiast Cary Katz is currently still reachable through several US network providers, as well as through devices like Roku, Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV but will go offline within the next days. On-demand videos will still be supported with advertising.
Poker Central president Joe Kakaty said Multichannel News "We saw our millennial audience wanted more content. But they wanted new, original content. The legacy part of our business is not a place where we wanted to put our resources."
He also said that Poker Central events like the Aria Super Highroller events will continue to be broadcasted through one of their previous partners like NBC Sports Network or CBS Sports Network.
