Pennsylvania Senate takes a long jump, passes Online Gambling Bill

Pennsylvania Senate takes a long jump passes Online Gambling Bill

A bill was passed on Wednesday, 24th of May, which will legalize and regulate online gambling, including online poker in the Pennsylvania Senate. The bill would cover an overall number of different state gambling areas, including local host fees, airport tablet gaming, daily fantasy sports and, online lottery sales.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board would supervise the online gambling industry and would be authorized to issue up to a dozen online poker licenses and a separate dozen online casino gaming licenses.

The issue here would be the licensing cost of dual setup, for each costing a whopping $5 million fee, i.e. $10 million, to shell out at once. Though, this comes out to be nothing when compared to the insane tax rate.

Online casino games revenue, like slots and blackjack, will be taxed at a killing 54%. With this insane taxing system, it's more likely that most of the casinos will pass on the offering of online casino games.

If the licenses aren’t all claimed by the Pennsylvania casinos, the remaining licenses could be granted to operators outside of the state.
