Online Poker Giant, Amaya Inc. To Hit The Indian Markets

Amaya Inc., the parent company of PokerStars would see its operations start in India soon in 2017.The online poker giant would enter the fastest-growing smartphone market.

Amaya Inc. soon to be The Stars Group Inc. that is eyeing 1.2 billion mobile users, would partner with the local partner in India to start giving out its services which would hit the market sometime around the end of this year. The company aims to hit at least half the Indian market which would reach $150 million worth eventually.

As for now, India lacks legal clarity regarding online poker as some states have online poker licences given out to companies on classifying their products as games of skill.

Though the name of The local partner has not been revealed, it has the license and the chief operating officer of the company is already on a visit to India to finalise the deal which will let PokerStars hit all the states in India, leaving a few.

According to the estimates of KPMG, India’s online gaming industry would reach to $1 billion by the year 2021, adding 190 million gamers with a majority belonging to mobile devices.
