According to reports from 9 out of 10 top online poker rooms, player and game volumes have increased by at least 5% during the first week of December. This constitutes the largest increase since June 2013.
All top rooms except for one saw traffic rising during this first week of December. For example, Winamax is now in 8th place having replaced Bodog which now slid to 9th place. PartyPoker has also seen its traffic increase slightly, leaving low September figures behind. 888Poker features in 3rd place.
Amongst the reasons for this rise, it is believed to be mainly due to the cold weather making a comeback to Europe. Summer time is notorious for European players abandoning their gaming habits and replacing them for travel, vacationing and overall spending more time outdoors and offline than at any other time of the year.
Another reason could also be due to a newly generated enthusiasm for poker players in the United States and the rest of the world due to the evolving legal climate in the US in regards to online poker. Despite the 5% increase for October this year, if compared to the same month in 2012, online poker is down by 9%.
