The 100th edition of the European Poker tour is underway and so far we have seen a handful of smaller tournaments being played in the Spanish city of Barcelona. But a couple of days ago another tournament started, a slightly more expensive one – The EPT Super High Roller €50,000 buy-in.

The tournament was from the start a big success, which could already be measured on the amount of players participating as 77 players paid the €50,000 buy-in to compete. Not only is that such a massive number that the total prize pool ended up at around €3.7 million, it was also the EPT record for most players in a super high roller tournament.

The tournament lasted for three days in total and attracted some of the biggest names in live and online poker. Guys like Sam Trickett, Mustapha Kanit, Dan Shak, Daniel Colman, Jorryt van Hoof, Vanessa Selbst, Doug Polk, Daniel Negreanu, Dan Smith, John Juanda, Erik Seidel and Tobias Reinkemeier were all in the tournament, battling for the €900,000 first prize.

In the end it was Olivier Busquet who took down the tournament, after beating his dear friend and One Drop winner Daniel Colman in a heads-up duel, where the two made a deal to make them almost equal in payouts. Busquet took €896,434 while Colman took home €843,066.

Busquet couldn’t complain about running bad in the tournament as he made a major suck out on the final table, where he held  against Sven Reichardt’s  on a  flop, where turn and river shows an  each, giving him a higher full house. Even the final hand against Colman, Busquet had the luck on his side as he calls a pre-flop all-in from Colman with  against Colman’s . Flop came  but with  on the turn and a blank river of , Busquet took home the title.
