Norwegians take lead in poker in spite being illegal

Despite illegality in their country, Norwegians accumulate poker trophies one after the other. Playing poker for money online or at live tournamnts is forbidden in Norway as all gaming is controlled by Norsk Tipping and Norsk Rikstoto. However, such regulations hasn't stopped more than 350,000 players from playing in international events as the unregulated market continues to grow.

Norwegian authorities have no control over playing on international websites, now the pressure's on to allow playing for money in Norways as well as they are expected to pay taxes over the earnings they make.

Three-times champion Thor Hansen told DN: “I’m certain it would raise more money for Norwegian athletics and culture if it was legalized.”
