New Jersey launched real money online gaming

Yesterday at 6pm local time, New Jersey launched the first legal and regulated online gambling and poker websites outside of Nevada and Delaware. There are a total of 13 websites run by six different casinos offering online poker, table games, dice and card games, video slots and online slots machines.

The launch is not official yet, it is instead a soft launch designed to test the gaming platforms, technology and operational aspects of the business. The test phase will last for five days and once the state’s Division of Gaming Enforcement gives its final approval, the real launch will commence on Tuesday 26th. During the etsting phase, the websites will only be available during restricted times and account registration is limited to invited players only. The limit is of 500 concurrent players.

During the testing phase, the 13 websites will only allow real money gaming between 6pm and 2am on Thursday and Friday evenings and from 8am on Saturday until midnight on Sunday. After the official launch, the time frames will be extended to 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
