Nadal wins first live-poker tournament

27 year old Spanish tennis-champion-turned-poker-pro, Rafael Nadal, has won his first ever live-poker tournament in Prague. Nadal started learning how to play poker when a knee injury forced him off the tennis courts last year, but he has only played online poker so far.

Nadal had a chance to face some of the world’s best poker players and much like he did when playing tennis, he beat all of his rivals including world’s number one player, Daniel Negreanu. Other famous players taking part in the tourney were Italian star Alberto Tomba, football cracks Ronaldo and Andriy Shevchenko and Dutch field hockey leader Fatima Moreira de Melo.

“My life is still tennis, playing poker I have fun. I am learning, but at the same time I try to be competitive. You need to have self-control, you have to wait for your moment” Nadal told reporters before the tournament.
