Mobile poker has been around for a few years already, slowly gaining more and more attention. In the last 2 years its popularity has been almost on par with online poker, especially in Europe where more people have started using their mobile and tablet devices to hit the felts.
Experts have even predicted that the number of mobile poker players will very soon surpass the number of online or desktop poker players. By the end on 2014 over 25% of all poker bets will be made by mobile poker players with these figures growing year by year.
PartyPoker for example, believes that mobile poker transactions will represent up to one third of all digital poker transactions. Jeffrey Haas, head of poker operations at PartyPoker, thinks that mobile poker players tend to play shorter, more intense sessions than their desktop counterparts since they are constantly exposed to more sensory distractions.
Haas said “Today we have 4 per cent of our user base on mobile, but I see it growing. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s 25 to 30 per cent of all players by the end of 2014, if not more.” PartyPoker now ofers its poker app to iOS, Android and Windows user as well as access via mobile browser through their HTML5 application.
