Maryland Poker Grows By 25 Percent Compared To 2016

The poker market of Maryland grew by a whopping 25.7 percent last year. Hence, Maryland has quickly become one of the nation’s top poker markets. In 2016, it was worth $35.4 million. As per the figures released by Maryland Lottery, state’s four casino poker rooms jointly took $44.5 million.

Live! Casino, Maryland’s largest room, has 52 tables. In December 2016, the MGM National Harbor has added a 39-table room to the state’s poker supply. Last year’s growth came to a small decline when three poker rooms have generated $35.6 million in revenue. Here’s a look at the state’s poker revenue by operator in 2017

  1. MGM National Harbor (39 tables): $21.29m
  2. Maryland Live (52 tables): $16.39m
  3. Horseshoe Casino Baltimore (23 tables): $5.68m
  4. Hollywood Casino Perryville (eight tables): $1.16m

Maryland has been rising its gaming popularity since debuting table games at its casinos in 2013. Neighboring Pennsylvania has ten poker rooms which are blessed with 230 tables altogether. It has a live poker market worth nearly $60 million annually.
