Luc Bellerive from Quebec won the 2017 Card Player Poker Tour World Cup of CardsCAD 1,650 no-limit hold’em main event with the guaranteed $400,000 win. Bellerive won the title after defeating a pool of 191 entrants and earned the first place prize of CAD 98,000 (USD 78,361) at the Playground Poker Club near Montreal.
Bellerive made an entry to the final table as the chip leader along with the other eight players remaining but only got a chance to make his first knockout when only four players were left. The first player to exit on the final day was Canadian poker pro, Samuel Chartier, knocked out by Tam Ho. He made an earning of CAD $11,520 ($9,211 USD).
Ho then showed the exit to two more players, taking the lead in the tournament. Bellerive made his first knockout of the night with Jonathan Marrie, by calling all-in. Ho proceeded with his fourth knock out of the final table by taking down Stuart Taylor in third place (USD 31,984).
The final hand of the night saw the two players competing and giving each other a tough fight, with Bellerive coming out victorious. Ho made CAD 67,050 (USD 53,613) for finishing in the runner-up spot.
