LAPT Season 8 Schedule Announced

Pokerstars announced the Latin American Poker Tour Season 8 schedule today, the biggest poker tournament series in Latin America. Season 8 will feature brand new stops, as they are coming to two brand new destinations, as well as introduce new formats and increase the LAPT Main Event buy-in.

The LAPT Bahamas Main Event was a major success, attracting one of the biggest fields in its history and overall the PCA was a success with the tournaments running in partnership with the European Poker Tour, where the PCA Main Event had 736 players paying the $3,000 buy-in and created a prize pool of $1,900,000.

The LAPT will return to Punta del Este in Uruguay after having been away for the past season, this time in a new casino as it will go to the Conrad Resort and Casino in September. The biggest event of the year will be the joint LAPT Grand Final and BSOP Millions in Sao Paulo in Brazil, which is expected to be the biggest poker festival in Central and South America to have ever been held.

David Carrion, PCA & LATAM Director of Live Operations said: “We are very excited about the new LAPT season. It has many new introductions, thrilling destinations and hard core poker formats, which are set to bring bumper fields and richer prize pools. Kicking off at PCA was fantastic and we are looking forward to a game-changing year in the history of LAPT.”

The LAPT Main Event buy-ins will be increased to $2,500 and will feature an unlimited re-entry format for players. There will also be Pot-Limit Omaha and Mixed Games alongside the traditional Texas Hold’em tournament format, providing players with new experiences.

“PokerStars live events across the world offer the most diverse selection of different poker variants around. In Latin America, it is a challenge to cater for players fond of the less popular types, however this is something we are determined to do and are proud to introduce strong formats this season. With more variety available, we aim to attract more grinders, recreational and all-round players who can see higher EV with these options.” Carrion Added.
