The founder and previous owner of the world's biggest poker site Pokerstars, Isai Scheinberg, is not very well known for his abilities on a poker table, but rather for the amazing work he has done for the poker industry as a whole, creating a safe and secure online poker room whilst helping live poker reach new heights.
Therefore we must assume that the 14 other players participating in the UKIPT High Roller tournament on the Isle of Man saw him as easy money, compared to having to play a top pro. The tournament had a total of 15 players paying the £2,200 buyin and had some prominent names such as Danish Mickey Petersen participating.
But despite the good competition, no one could stop Scheinberg who took down the tournament and won the first price of around £14,000, which the poker community thought was everything from great to epic.
It is not the first time that Scheinberg has participated in live tournaments, but it is by far his best result. It will be interesting to see if the former Chief Executive Officer of the Rational Group will continue to play more poker, now that he has more time on his hands, or if it was more of a publicity stunt since the tournament was hosted in Isle of Man, the home of Pokerstars and the Rational Group.
