Elior Sion Wins $50,000 Buy-in Poker Players Championship At WSOP 2017

Elior Sion, British high-stakes poker pro won the prestigious $50,000 buy-in Poker Players Championship at the 2017 WSOP on Friday morning after a straight-up match with Germany’s Johannes Becker. Sion who goes popularly by the internet name of “Crazy Elior” made by far highest of his career by winning $1,395,767 while Becker stood at $862,649.

This win marks Sion’s first bracelet at the WSOP and the eighth-lifetime WSOP in-the-money finish. Sion’s name would be added to the Chip Reese Memorial Trophy named after Chip Reese, Poker Hall of Famer and inaugural champion. Reese passed away in 2007.

The five days action generated a prize pool of $4.8 million from 100 player turnout. The number went up from 91 last year to 100 players this year. The championship included no limit hold’em, seven-card stud, Omaha hi-lo eight-or-better, razz, pot-limit Omaha, limit hold’em, seven-card stud hi-lo eight-or-better and deuce-to-seven triple draw lowball. The final tournament match was Omaha hi-lo.

Daniel Negreanu, a six-time bracelet winner, was leading the six-handed final table but ended up in the fifth position this year.
