Vernon Kirk, the lottery director for the state of Delaware, announced in an interview with CardPlayer that the state is gearing up to launch its online gambling and poker platforms on October 31st. Delaware will become the second state in the Union to offer regulated and legal online gambling and poker to its residents, after Nevada and after having beaten New Jersey in the race.

Delaware has chosen Scientific Games and 888 Holdings as their casino and poker software providers. Poker will be one of the first games to go live, along with Video Poker and Slots games. Delaware will be first US state to offer fully legal online casino gaming online.

Delaware’s online poker platform will be provided by 888 Poker while Scientific Games will deal mostly with administrative tasks like payment processing, player verification, IT support and such.

As of time of publishing, Delaware had not confirmed if it would have interstate compacts by October 31st but its is widely known that Delaware Lottery has been in discussions with both New Jersey and Nevada about the subject. As Vernon Kirk stated in his interview: “My guess is that, certainly with Nevada, they are definitely anxious to compact with us, and us to them likewise.”
