The World Poker Tour Choctaw festival from the poker series 2017/2018 calendar is going on in Choctaw Casino & Resort in Durant, Oklahoma. The Main Event with $3,700 buy-in started on Friday, where around 340 entrants registered from around the globe.

Daniel Lowery from Peter Pandara, Arkansas, survived the day one with 347,200 chips in a leading position of the total 89 players left from the 12 one-hour levels. Though Lowery has never won any WPT Main Event, he has earnings of more than $1 million in live tournament earnings.

Lowery competed with AJ Nimer to take the chip lead on day 1A on Friday and finished second in chips with 345,700 after losing several spots during closing stages. Many known and experienced poker players were seen including champion James Mackey, three-times WPT winner Darren Elias. Unfortunately, Elias couldn’t make it through the day.

Other players who failed to survive the game on day 1 were WPT champion and commentator Tony Dunst, Scott Blumstein, who took away the WSOP Main Event this year. However, the tournament has the feature of unlimited re-entry opportunities; many players would return for the game’s day 1B.

The guaranteed pool prize currently sits at $2 million which may further increase, will be paid out on Day 2.
