Daniel “Jungleman” Cates is having a good year it seems. A few weeks back he finished second in the Super Highroller tournament in EPT Monte Carlo for around $1.2 million and now he also have some success in online tournaments, enough to tweet (sarcastically) that he is now a tournament pro.

Cates played the SCOOP event #14, which was a heads up pot limit Omaha tournament with a buy-in of $2,100. A total of 216 players participated in the event and Cates beat them all, as he was found victorious after a few hours of playing. The final heads up battle was against a Ukrainian player known as “Lexer1986”, but he couldn’t take down Cates.

Cates won $95,040 in event #14 and will also receive some additional prizes for having won a Scoop event. It will be interesting to see if he will continue to play different heads up events and eventually grind more tournaments than he grinds cash games.
