California to Legalize Online Poker?

Share

Things are moving fast in the US at the moment and more and more states are looking into changing the rules of online gambling and especially online poker. California is one of the states that are now introducing bills to try and legalize poker, which in such case would be controlled by the state.

Earlier this year it was believed that online poker could not get legalized in the state, simply because the support for it was not there. Now that has changed due to tribal interest in online poker, instead of working against it. Should California go ahead and legalize online poker it may have a huge effect on other states and particularly on Oregon.

The reason for this is that the US is now seeing a trend starting, which is that neighbour states are looking to join forces in online poker to be able to deliver even higher liquidity and thus get higher revenues. If California legalizes poker it would be natural for them to look to partner up with Oregon and would probably put some pressure on the government there.

Currently only New Jersey, Nevada and Delaware have legalized online poker, with Nevada and Delaware having a liquidity sharing partnership taking place.
