For a $400,000 guaranteed main event in the 2017 Card Player Poker Tour at the Bicycle Hotel and Casino a total of 1,754 players registered. A final prize pool of $467,928 was created from the high turnout of the players.
Brad Horner, a 30-year-old IT professional from Visalia, California, won the event, made $49,123 in winnings along with a CPPT trophy and a Card Player Magazine cover. Horner was the chip leader when he hit the jackpot in the seven-handed deal.
With the win in the event, Horner not only fulfilled his dream of winning the title but fulfilled a promise he made to his terminally ill mother, suffering from cancer of making it to the cover of the Card Player Magazine for her.
For the final day of action, a total of 26 players returned, with Horner as the chip leader coming into day 3. With the game still, ten handed negotiations for a deal began that kept failing. When the game had seven players remaining with the elimination of Vanik Matousian, all agreed to the numbers.
