An extra $100K a week in tournaments guarantees have been applied to key tournaments with buy-ins ranging from $5.50 to $215 by US top entertainment brand, Bodog.
The brand will generously share it’s fortune by offering it’s players bigger prize pools after the company reached a prosperous 2013. Numbers point that Bodog earned over 60% in the past year.
The tournament guarantees are a marketing strategy focused to encourage more players into the world of online poker. The higher the number of players, the better the guarantees, simple as that.
Although some tournaments have remained the same regardless the company’s performance, it seems that it might be time for reconsideration for tourneys such as the Sunday major (which has offered a costant $100k guarantee) to receive a kind rise in prize pools.
