Adelson's pro-gaming rumour is denied

Adelson's pro gaming rumour is denied

Rumours about Sheldon Adelson switching positions and now supposedly in favour of online poker has come to an end. A spokesman for Las Vegas Sands (LVS) denies the tweet that the Managing Editor at PokerNews, Brett Collson, posted last Friday stating that Adelson was supporting a new Reid bill and that he had “supposedly switched his position on internet poker.”

It is widely known that Adelson is a strong opponent against this issue and that he recently launched a campaign titled “Stop Internet Gambling". The rumour was  believed at some point when other reports suggested that Reid was trying to implement a new poker-only bill and was that he was also trying to tighten up the Wire Act.

Poker news affiliate,, released an article this weekend titled “Adelson Changes Mind, Gives New Hope to Federal Online Poker in US”, mentioning Collson and so, triggered the rumour. The article then reached LVS Vice President of Government Relations & Community Development, Andy Abboud, denying all comments on Facebook and emphatized that: “This article is not accurate. Sheldon Adelson has not changed his position.”
