Time Inc. to Accept Bitcoin Payments Trough Coinbase

Time Inc., one of the world’s leading media companies, announced today that they have signed  a partnership agreement with Coinbase, allowing their company to accept Bitcoin payments. Readers of magazines from Time Inc. will now be able to purchase four different magazines using Bitcoins, either in digital form or in paper form.

The magazines available for purchase with Bitcoins are Fortune, Health, This Old House as well as Travel + Leisure, with more being made available in the future if it becomes a success. Time Inc. has more than 130 million consumers every month, across multiple different platforms. With the integration of Bitcoin payments, they will now be able to reach new audiences and save payment fees.

“We believe this is an important step in helping the publishing industry understand and explore new business models that can be enabled with bitcoin. Micropayments, for example, provide an incredible opportunity for content creators and media companies, allowing consumers to make small payments for content in an open network for the first time. We look forward to partnering with Time Inc. to explore this and other new applications of Bitcoin in the future.” Coinbase said in a press release on their website.
