Sacramento Kings Now Accepting Bitcoin Payments

Sacramento Kings from the NBA has just announced that they will begin to accept Bitcoins as a payment methods for their matches and team merchandise from March 1st. They will be the first professional sports team in the world to accept the popular cryptocurrency and hopefully more will join after the first results of the Bitcoin payment method integration has been announced.

The integration of the Bitcoin as a payment method was mainly team owner Vivekl Ranadive’s idea as he wants to integrate his “NBA 3.0” philosophy, where technology is one of the main keys. Ranadive made the following comment:

‘‘With BitPay, we are able to implement a technology that allows our fans to make Kings-related purchases without physically reaching into their wallets,’’

and continued:

“A major tenet of the NBA 3.0 philosophy is about utilising technology for the betterment of the fan experience, and this is yet another step in that process.’’.

Sacramento is based out of Sacramento California and has not been in the playoffs since 2006, indicating that they have been performing very poorly the last many years. Their record this season is also 14 wins and 23 losses, confirming the suspicion.
