Russia is a country where digital currencies and blockchain products are enjoying increasing popularity and penetrating even the political realm. To this end, Partiya Rosta, a Russian political party, has launched its own cryptocurrency called Upcoin.
The token is based on the Waves blockchain platform and has been produced in collaboration with its founder Sasha Ivanov. In his words, “For those who have been working in this space for years, aiming to increase blockchain adoption, it’s a vindication of our efforts … It’s also great to see Waves, the ‘blockchain for the people’ platform we designed for mass adoption, being used for exactly the purpose it was created for.”
Upcoin has so far issued a total of 10 million tokens which are available for purchase after people register on the project’s portal Ludirosta. There are a number of social privileges for cryptocurrency owners such as discounts for educational programs and access to a variety of classes.
