Approximately one year ago, Overstock's CEO Patrick Byrne decided that his multimillion dollar company would begin to accept the new popular cryptocurrency Bitcoin. Since then, him and his company has been one of the pioneers of helping the Bitcoin become more popular and known in the public space.
Now Byrne and Overstock is taking yet another step, this time for their employees. The staff of Overstock will now be able to receive their salaries in Bitcoins if they should want to receive it so, showing that they still believe in the cryptocurrency despite the rough year it had.
But that's not all, as Overstock also announced that they will be installing a Bitcoin ATM in their headquarters in Salt Lake City in Utah.
“Moving cryptocurrencies out of the realm of geeks and into the realm of the rest of us requires making changes at all levels of the financial ecosystem. An important part of this effort is making digital money ATM accessible.” Byrne said in a press release.
The ATM will not only be for staff of Overstock, but also for the general public who can come and buy and sell Bitcoins from the machine. It will be open 24-hours a day to the public, so everyone can come by whenever it suits them.
