Bitcoins Used More Than Credit Cards on Black Friday

Online gift card maker company Gyft announced earlier today that their Black Friday was a great success and that they sold more gift cards with Bitcoins as payment method, than they did with credit cards. According to the company they had “transactions for millions of dollars” with Bitcoins on Black Friday, showing that the Americans has embraced the popular cryptocurrency.

One of the reasons for the increase in purchases made by Bitcoins was also due to the fact that Gyft had promised all customers an extra loyalty point, should they make the purchase with Bitcoins. Gyft is using BitPay’s merchant solution for their customers, who updates the selling price of a gift card accordingly with the value of the Bitcoin and allows them to exchange the Bitcoins they have in sales for the same value as it was sold for.
