BitTag, a self-updating Bitcoin-friendly price tag for land-based merchants, shops and retailers, uses wireless communication protocols to connect to the internet where it can inquire about the real time value of Bitcoin, thus making any necessary alterations to the price shown in the tag.
According to the creator of the smart tag, it should be enough to help shops gain confidence and attempt to broadenb the sales and payment methods for this ever more popular cryptocurrency.
According to Samuel Cox who is the creator of the BitTag, "Bitcoin is becoming more popular, but there's a lack of infrastructure for people to buy things in the physical world because the value changes all the time.
Bitcoin transactions can be activated by a simple 'shake' of the BitTag, enabling a Bitcoin QR code to be displayed on the screen and scanned by the user's smartphone".
Currently the BitTag is little more than a prototype and its cost is of £40. It displays the price in local currency and Bitcoins.
