The march of Ethereum seems unstoppable. The cryptocoin rose 1,700 percent in value this year and is, after the bitcoin, the most valuable digital currency in the world.

The value of one ethereum coin has risen since the beginning of 2016 from 1 dollar to a little over 17 dollar. The market capitalization (the total amount of coins that go around times the currenct value) is a little under $1,4 billion. This makes Ethereum the second most valuable digital coin in the world.

Ethereum uses the same technology as the bitcoin: the blockchain. This is a public, decentralized register wherein all transactions are that were ever executed. This technology makes it possible to execute a reliable transaction without the interference of a third party.
