Share

AMD, one of the biggest graphics card (GPU) making company is going to release software which would be exclusively for cryptocurrency mining.

The website states that the Radeon Software Crimson ReLive Edition Beta for Blockchain Compute is a beta level support driver which is designed specifically to improve the performance of GPUs used for cryptocurrency mining. Mining is a process new tokens are created as a reward for adding new transactions to a blockchain.

The launch comes at a time when there is an increase in demand of GPUs, due to the increased prices in markets for cryptocurrencies like Ether on Ethereum blockchain.

The two biggest graphics card manufacturers AMD and Nvidia are cashing on the situation with the boom for graphics cards. The maddening rush to acquire GPUs to earn profits has affected the revenues of the companies significantly.

The release of the software would allow the computers to communicate with the hardware components. The move from AMD suggests that the firm wants to keep the miners around. The driver has been released in beta version with no further updates or support or bug fixes.
