Airbnb has acqui-hired seven engineers from the bitcoin company who had worked on ChangeTip, which is a feature that let people tip each other with bitcoins via Twitter and Reddit.
Airbnb's co-developer Nathan Blecharczyck mentioned he is interested in studying the bitcoin-technology, however, the acquisition didn't include any IP or assets of the company, which means tipping via bitcoin won't become a standard on Airbnb yet.
Only Airbnb would know if you trashed your last rental, but with blockchain technology that information can be shared so other people could know if you're trustworthy.
It was only a matter of time before the $16 billion company showed interest in bitcoins. How much Airbnb payed for ChangeCoin, the mother company of ChangeTip, isn't clear, but it is certain that blockchain will be very big.
