It is expected that the site plan for the Shorelines Casino Petersborough will be considered by
the City Council on May 23, according to local officials.
Ken Hetherington, manager of the city’s planning division, confirmed a site plan application for a
new casino has been lodged with the council.
The address of the Shorelines Casino is the corner of Crawford Dr. and The Parkway.
In order for development works to commence, the detailed plan of the arrangement of the
buildings and the rest of the facilities needs to be approved by the City Council.
Last year the land on which the casino will be erected was rezoned to allow for the construction
of the gambling establishment.
There was an objection to the project raised by the Downtown Business Improvement Area
association and AON Inc. Both organizations believed the casino should be located downtown
but after a settlement entitling the DBIA to receive $150,000 from the city per year was
reached, the appeal was withdrawn.
The company behind the new casino project is Great Canadian Gaming Corp.
