Sheldon Adelson loses $70 million court case

Hong Kong businessman Suen has won a $70 million lawsuit against Sheldon Adelson, owner of the Las Vegas Sands Corporation which manages casinos and resorts in Las Vegas and other cities. A jury agreed that he had a protagonist role in aiding the casino mogul get a gambling license in China by lobbying Chinese officials in the mainland to grant the Sands a permit to oprtae in Macau, the only legal gambling area in China. The trial took a month while Adelson’s attorneys tried to convince the jury that Suen was overstating his importance in the process to secure licenses. Despite this, the jury was unconvinced.
