The casinos in Maryland had a good month in May, as they saw their revenues climb a massive 10% to $75.8 million. This marked a 10% increase in revenues compared to May 2012 and the four casinos in the state are very happy with the result.
Maryland Live Casino is the state's largest casino and also the casino with the highest revenues by far, reaching $59,5 million out of the $75,8 million in total. Their year-on-year revenues had a rise of 8.1% and shows that they are doing something right to attract the players to their casino and not to the competitors. The massive casino operates more than 180 table games and have around 4,200 slot machines.
Hollywood Casino Pennyville's revenues had a drop of 8.7% to $7.8 million year-on-year in May, which is a $748,272 drop in revenues. The Casino at Ocean Downs had revenues of $4.7 million, which is a decrease of 1.2% year-on-year. Finally the Rocky Gap Casino generated revenues of $3.8 million, but there is no year-on-year result as the casino opened in the end of May last year.
Another casino is opening in the state very soon, as Horseshoe Casino Baltimore is scheduled to open late August or early September. It will be interesting to see how a new casino will do in the market.
