The 2017 International Entertainment Buyers Association (IEBA) has named Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut as the Casino of the Year.
The flagship property for Mohegan Gaming and Entertainment, Mohegan Sun took home the coveted title at the 2017 IEBA Honors and Awards Ceremony organized in Nashville on October 17, 2017. Mohegan Sun took home the same title in 2015 as well. The senior corporate vice president of Sports & Entertainment for Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment, Tom Cantone said that he is extremely honored to be named "Casino of the Year."
He added that his dedicated entertainment team had built a national reputation for making 10,000-seat Mohegan Sun Arena become as popular as the stars that play it. Tom also said that he is very proud of the high level of entertainment and hard work that the industry has recognized as award-winning. The top entertainment executives including biggest agencies, artist management groups and other arenas across the country vote for the IEBA awards. Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment has six properties worldwide.
Recently, Mohegan Sun topped off its $80 million Exposition Center in Uncasville. This new Exposition Center will stretch 240,000 net square feet. It will include a 20,000 square-foot ballroom, expansive pre-function space, 15 meeting rooms, 1,260 square-foot executive boardroom, 3,600 square feet of outdoor gathering space and other amenities. The project will be completed in summer 2018.
Last year, Mohegan Sun inaugurated its $130 million Earth Tower hotel. They also ventured into a $50 million renovation of its 1,200-room Sky Tower hotel, which was opened 14 years earlier.
