McKeeva Bush, 62, Speaker of the House, Cayman Islands was arrested at a casino in South Florida by Seminole Police late Monday night. The reports of the arrests have been confirmed by the two Florida law enforcement agencies on Wednesday.
The allegations against Mr Bush are one count of “touch or strike/battery”, and according to the records, a cash bond of US$1,000 has been granted. According to the Broward County court records the news of the arrest on misdemeanour offence was made public on Wednesday.
The arrest was made at a casino in Coconut Creek, Florida, North of Fort Lauderdale as per the confirmations of the Broward County Sherriff’s Department. Seminole Police Department Spokesman said in a statement, “William McKeeva Bush was arrested by Seminole Police on Monday at 11:02 p.m. at the Seminole Casino Coconut Creek and charged with simple battery or misdemeanour battery”.
The arrest was made after a complaint by a female employee victim and a review of surveillance video. Mr Bush is allegedly seen wrapping his arm around the victim’s lower back and pulling her forcefully towards his direction in the surveillance video, according to the arresting officer. The victim alleged that Mr Bush grabbed her buttocks while pulling her with his right arm.
As of now, the video has not been released by the Police, and no court date has been set in the case. Mr Bush has not been formally charged with any offences according to the State of Florida Criminal procedure.
