Louisiana to Introduce Online gambling?

The state of Louisiana could consider introducing regulations for online gambling in an effort to control activity by operators and protect players in the state while at the same time profiting from the success and popularity of internet casinos.

Legislators may be drafting a new bill as early as this year an could be planning on introducing a wide set of safeguards in oreder to launch a regulated online gambling platform. According to Louisiana Gambling Control chairman Ronnie Jones, "I suspect a bill will likely be introduced, but I can't confirm".

The new bill would focus on safeguards and consumer protection as well as how to ensure only legitimate online casino operators could offer the gaming services to state residents. Other concerns include how to limit criminal activity, underage gamblers, gambling addictions and IT security.
