A group of casino lobbying members have contacted a very influential member of the ruling LDP party with intend to push for legislation which could open the Japanese market to the gambling industry. Although currently gambling is illegal, Japanese are notorious gamblers and the country sees a whopping $200 billion yearly in revenues from a non-gambling game called Pachinko. If passed, the legislation could see Japan transform itself into a gambling mecca bigger and more extravagant than Macau or Las Vegas.
