An average of 10 million Americans play poker over the internet but only on offshore websites which means there is no preceived benefit to state and federal authorities thanks to a 2006 ban passed by congress on online gambling. Nevada has been moving to allow legal online poker for a few years and has finaly legalized it in February with New Jersey and Delaware likely following suit. The Nevada Gaming Board has allowed a 30-day window licence to allow sites to compete for customers and Ultimate Poker was the first one to go live. Online gambling is expected to rake in billions of dollars in revenues for state authorities.
