Dutch online gambling monopoly faces competitors soon

Share

By 2015, the online gambling state monopoly in the Netherlands will deal with competition as the country is planning to expand its online gambling market.

However, strict requirements and conditions will be faced by poker rooms, sportsbooks and online casinos operators in order to apply for this new legislation such as contributions to promote safe gambling.

On the upside, the tax rate proceeding from online gambling will be reduced from 29%, currently payed by Holland Casino, to 20% as a way to motivate new operators to join the egaming market in the Netherlands.
